Beej Mantra Vedic Surya Shanti Yagya According to Ancients Vedic Rituals

Surya (Sun) Shanti Yagya by MandirMahima.Org

Perform the Surya (Sun) Shanti Yagya using sacred Beej Mantras along with powerful Vedic hymns dedicated to Lord Surya (Sun).

In Vedic astrology, the Sun represents authority, status, leadership, government, political success, career, vitality, personality, confidence, overall health, and recognition.

When the Sun is weak, afflicted, or placed in a debilitated position in your birth chart, it may produce unfavorable effects such as poor health, frequent fever, headaches, eye-related ailments, and conflicts with government authorities, senior officials, or political figures.

An afflicted Sun may also result in excessive ego, instability of mind, pride, jealousy, impatience, uncontrolled ambition, irritability, anger, stubbornness, a dominating attitude, unnecessary expenses, obstacles in life, unethical behavior, and vindictiveness.

Certain astrological conditions, such as birth on Amavasya (New Moon), Krantisamya or Mahapa birth, and Surya Grahan Dosha caused by the conjunction of the Sun with Rahu or Ketu (Sapat Dosha), can weaken the positive influence of the Sun.

If your horoscope contains any of these planetary afflictions or doshas, performing the Surya Shanti Yagya is highly recommended.

This sacred Vedic ritual involves the worship of Lord Surya through Mantras, Tantric rituals, and Yagya (fire ceremony). The Surya Shanti Yagya is performed to reduce the harmful effects of an afflicted Sun while strengthening its beneficial energies. When conducted according to Vedic traditions, this Yagya promotes positive results and does not produce any adverse effects.

Description

Perform this Surya (Sun) Yagya using sacred Vedic Mantras along with other powerful hymns dedicated to Lord Surya.

Let us understand the significance of the Vedic ritual for the Sun, commonly known as Surya Yagya or Sun Yagya. Surya Shanti Yagya is performed to reduce the adverse effects of an afflicted Sun in the birth chart, eliminate negativity, and strengthen the positive influence of a well-placed Sun. The Yagya usually begins on a Sunday, although its completion may extend to another day depending on the time required by the priests to finish the prescribed chanting of Surya Vedic Mantras. The complete method of performing this ritual is known as Surya Yagya Vidhi, which is explained below.

The most important aspect of this Yagya is the chanting (Jaap) of up to 28,000 Surya Beej Mantras. Every other ritual performed during the Surya Shanti Yagya revolves around these sacred chants. Generally, the learned priests complete the Yagya within one day. Before beginning, the chief priest performs a Sankalpam (sacred resolution) on behalf of all participating priests. During the Sankalpam, the priest states the purpose of the Yagya, the name of the devotee, the devotee’s father’s name, Gotra, the names of the assisting priests, and the expected duration of the ritual. It is also declared that 28,000 Surya Beej Mantras will be chanted to pacify the malefic Sun or to enhance the blessings of a benefic Sun. Any personal prayers or wishes of the devotee are also included in the Sankalpam.

Once the Sankalpam is completed, all the priests begin the continuous recitation of the Surya Vedic Mantras. After the chanting is finished, a concluding worship ceremony is conducted in which various deities, including Lord Shiva and His divine family, are honored with offerings such as flowers, fruits, sweets, halwa, incense, lamps, milk, curd, honey, desi ghee, sugar, and other sacred items. During this ceremony, the chief priest announces the successful completion of the Yagya within the prescribed time and prays that the devotee receives the blessings of a favorable Sun or relief from the harmful effects of an afflicted Sun. Offerings and donations are also made to the relevant Navagraha, including items such as copper, sugar, wheat, rice, milk, oil, utensils, pulses, lentils, jaggery, and other prescribed materials. After seeking blessings from the deities, the ritual proceeds to the final stage known as Havan (Havana).

The Havan is one of the most powerful and significant parts of the Surya Shanti Yagya and should only be performed by experienced Vedic priests. During this sacred fire ritual, Vedic Mantras are chanted to establish a spiritual connection between the devotee and the Sun. A holy fire is kindled in the Havan Kund, and with the completion of each mantra, the priests offer sacred materials into the fire while chanting “Swaha.” This sequence continues throughout the ritual with great precision and discipline. The Havan Samagri may vary depending on the specific Yagya being performed. Towards the end of the ceremony, a dry coconut filled with prescribed sacred ingredients is offered into the holy fire while the priests chant mantras on behalf of the devotee. The devotee is then asked to perform Parikrama (circumambulation) around the Havan Kund. Depending upon the ritual, one, three, or seven rounds may be performed. This marks the successful completion of the Surya Shanti Yagya.

Every stage of the Surya Shanti Yagya should be performed exactly as prescribed by qualified Vedic priests and according to the principles of Vedic Jyotish. Failure to follow the prescribed procedures may reduce the effectiveness of the ritual. During the Yagya period, the devotee is also expected to observe certain disciplines and precautions. Alcohol consumption and smoking should be completely avoided. The devotee should maintain good conduct, refrain from violence, avoid non-vegetarian food, and abstain from physical or sexual relations until the completion of the Yagya. Waking up early, taking a bath, offering prayers, and maintaining a spiritual connection with Lord Surya throughout the ritual are also recommended.

It is important to understand that the Surya Yagya can be performed either in the presence or absence of the devotee. If the devotee is unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances, the priests can perform the Yagya on their behalf. A photograph of the devotee is placed as a symbolic representation, and the chief priest mentions the devotee’s name while assigning a designated priest to perform the mantras on the devotee’s behalf. The assigned priest first chants the mantras for the devotee and then performs his own. In this manner, the Surya Yagya remains equally effective whether or not the devotee is physically present.

Upon the successful completion of the 28,000 Surya Beej Mantra chanting along with all the prescribed Vedic rituals, the devotee may experience relief from the adverse effects of an afflicted Sun and receive the positive blessings and benefits of a strong and favorable Sun in the horoscope.
