How to Reach Borghat Temple, Shilliangpusi, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya

Borghat Temple is located in Borghat village (Shilliangpusi) in the East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. According to the East Jaintia Hills District Administration, the temple is approximately 49 km from Khliehriat, the district headquarters, and is situated only a few kilometres from Bataw Village.

By Road

Road travel is the most practical way to reach Borghat Temple. Visitors can travel towards Khliehriat and then proceed towards Lad Rymbai, Bataw and Borghat. The Lad Rymbai–Bataw–Borghat road is a commonly cited route for reaching the temple.

From Khliehriat: Borghat Temple is approximately 49 km away

From Jowai: Visitors can travel towards the Khliehriat/Borghat area and continue to Shilliangpusi

From Shillong: Travel by road towards Jowai and Khliehriat, followed by the local road towards Bataw and Borghat

Local Taxi: Hiring a private taxi or arranging a local vehicle is recommended, particularly because Borghat is a village destination

Private Vehicle: Cars can generally be used to reach Borghat, although visitors should check local road conditions before travelling.

East Jaintia Hills is connected by National Highway 44, which provides an important road connection through Shillong, Jowai and Khliehriat towards other parts of Meghalaya and the Northeast. Tourist taxis are also available from Shillong.

By Air

The nearest airport serving the East Jaintia Hills region is Shillong Airport (Umroi Airport). The district administration states that the airport is approximately 97 km from Khliehriat. Another major option is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam, which is approximately 203 km from Khliehriat. From either airport, visitors can continue the journey by road.

By Train

There is no major railway station in Borghat itself. Guwahati Railway Station is the principal railway gateway for travellers coming from other parts of India. From Guwahati, visitors can continue by road towards Shillong, Jowai, Khliehriat and Borghat. The East Jaintia Hills District Administration lists Guwahati Railway Station as the nearest major railway station.
